Claude Code vs Cursor: Which Should You Use?

TL;DR: Use Cursor if you want AI inside a familiar editor. Use Claude Code if you want a terminal agent that edits your repo, runs commands, and opens PRs. Both are excellent; the difference is where you work.

Choose Cursor if…

• You like a VS Code-style editor
• You want inline edits + chat while you code
• You prefer a polished GUI

Choose Claude Code if…

• You live in the terminal
• You want agentic, multi-step changes + PRs
• You want deep codebase awareness

Bottom line

Editor person → Cursor. Terminal/agentic person → Claude Code. Many devs use both.
